In Lusulu, Zimbabwe, going to school is almost an impossible challenge.
Classrooms are dilapidated and insufficient; often children must attend lessons outdoors, under the scorching sun or in the rain. There are no desks, chairs, blackboards, or even the most basic learning materials such as pencils and notebooks. The toilets are broken and unusable.
And what about drinking water? The only well is located kilometers away: so it is mainly the girls, like Buhle, who must walk for hours to fetch it, losing precious school days.
Learning in these conditions is impossible. It is an injustice we cannot ignore.
Every child has the right to a safe and dignified education, and we cannot accept that their future is denied.
Together, however, we can change things: with Giuseppe Bertuccio D’Angelo, founder of Project Happiness team and Ambassador of ActionAid since 2022, we want to build a new school in Lusulu, to give Wembley, Talent, Buhle, and all the children of the village the opportunity to study, grow, and pursue their dreams.
The Kapale School Construction Project
We want to build a new school for over 300 students in Kapale, Zimbabwe. Having a school means not only learning new subjects but also receiving a hot meal, having access to clean water, and usable toilets.
Together, we can achieve many goals:
- Renovation of 2 school blocks
- Construction of a new school block and kindergarten
- Construction of 20 separate toilets for boys and girls
- Construction of 2 teachers’ accommodations
- Installation of solar panels for electricity and a wi-fi network
- Construction of a well and a water system
- Creation of a school garden
Here at Wembley, Talent, Buhle and their schoolmates can keep dreaming. Help us make it come true!
